18ky Ruby 'Beacon' Studs

Crafted in-house by our team of goldsmiths

Part of our signature Torrington Bay Collection, each Beacon draws inspiration from the inner architecture of a lighthouse - the metal frameworks and rotating mechanisms that suspend and support the light itself.  The design echos this sense of structure and symmetry, transforming functional engineering into refined jewellery.  Handcrafted in solid 18k gold and set with natural gemstones, these charms are designed for everyday wear, whether on land or on sea, all while capturing the light of the East Coast.

A vivid pair of oval brilliant-cut rubies are surrounded by 3 rings of buttery rich 18k gold, in these stud earrings. Set securely in a bezel, made to be sleek, comfortable, and easy for everyday wear.

About

Modern Era

(1990 - Present)
Our Era: Full of everything from Bling to Gothic. Layered necklace, stacking rings, yellow gold and pieces that make a flashy statement are just some of today’s current trends.

Starting off the 90s with religious themed jewellery and dark gothic themes. Matching sets also made a comeback- it was essential to match your jewellery colours to your outfit. One of the most famous pieces of jewellery from this period was the “Heart of the Ocean” from the film Titanic.

At the beginning of the 2000s, we head back into “White on White” as the preferred style. Engagement rings were often seen with a Princess cut diamond set in white gold. The “Bling” Era also began. The more diamonds, the better. Large name plate pendants coated in diamonds as well as diamond encrusted rings are often worn by rappers and influencers.

In the 2010s, we start to see more of the trends we recognize today. Layered necklaces and stacking rings are some of the most popular styles of our time. Next time you’re running errands or taking a walk have a look at the people around you and see the jewellery of our era in action!

Ruby - Corundum

Known as the stone of passion, many cultures use rubies as a sign of love and commitment. Rubies can be found in many places such as Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the United States- however the finest and most sought-after rubies come from Burma (Myanmar). Rubies are the birthstone for July. They rank 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making them a great everyday stone and an alternative to a diamond for an engagement ring.
